Confirmed flat-fee pool

Alex Morgan$1,575.00

$600 ÷ $800 = 75% · 75% × $2,100 = $1,575

Jordan Lee$525.00

1 hour × $200 = $200 work value
$200 ÷ $800 = 25% · 25% × $2,100 = $525

For owners and reporting administrators

How a report
is prepared.

Review the share assigned to each person and show the work behind it. Fee credit is an internal allocation, not pay, a client payment, or recognized revenue.

01

Confirm the inputs

Select matters and a work-date cutoff. Enter each matter’s fee pool—the amount to allocate. Confirm the hourly reference rates used to value the work, then choose an allocation policy.

02

Review each allocation

Trace each person’s credit to their recorded work. Resolve missing information or exclude a matter with a documented reason.

03

Finalize and share a report

Save the calculation you reviewed. Download summary or entry-detail CSVs, or use Print / Save PDF for the report and individual statements. Later draft changes leave the saved report unchanged.

Cumulative work through your cutoff. Each report includes eligible work from the beginning of each selected matter. Do not add overlapping reports together.

The same work. Two policies.

Compare the
allocations.

Recorded hours × reference rate = reference work value. Alex contributes $600 and Jordan $200: a 75% / 25% split. These fictional examples use USD.

$2,100 confirmed pool · $800 reference work value

Capped work credit

Allocate up to the work value or the fee pool, whichever is lower.

Alex Morgan
$600.00
Jordan Lee
$200.00
Unallocated balance
$1,300.00
Total fee pool
$2,100.00

Allocate the full fee

Allocate the whole pool in proportion to reference work value.

Alex Morgan
$1,575.00
Jordan Lee
$525.00
Unallocated balance
$0.00
Total fee pool
$2,100.00

A matter with no eligible work stays unallocated under either policy.

Recorded hours are time worked. Credited hours express the allocation. Jordan’s $525 full-fee credit ÷ $200 reference rate = 2.625 credited hours. Recorded time stays at 1 hour.

The finished output

A report you
can explain.

See the cutoff, allocation policy, recorded hours and fee credit together. Then open an individual statement showing that person’s entries and calculation.

Built to be explained

A reason behind every number.

Rates with a history

Use dated reference-rate schedules or documented entry overrides. A current rate does not replace an earlier entry’s rate.

Clear scope and rounding

Keep the cutoff, currency, exclusions, and allocation policy with the report. Entry-level rounding reconciles to the allocated cents.

A read-only connection

FeeLedger reads source records from Clio Manage. It does not change time entries, create invoices, move trust funds, or process client payments.

A few useful answers

Questions before getting started.

What has been tested?

The working app has been tested with fictional matters in an authorized Canadian Clio account, including two-person allocations, fractional hours, and cent rounding. Further connection and operational checks remain before public signup opens.

Where does the flat-fee pool come from?

You enter and confirm the reporting pool for each matter. FeeLedger does not infer that pool from invoices, payments, or trust balances. You document what belongs in it.

Is this a monthly compensation report?

No. Reports include cumulative eligible work from the beginning of each selected matter through the work-date cutoff. Overlapping reports should not be added together. Fee credit does not establish a compensation entitlement.

What happens when work exceeds the flat fee?

Both policies allocate the available pool in proportion to reference work value. Total credit never exceeds the pool. Neither policy allocates credit when there is no eligible work.

What does a person statement contain?

The selected person’s eligible entries, allocated fee credit, recorded and credited hours, and the saved calculation’s context. Matter-level pool and total work value explain the allocation; other people’s individual entries are excluded.

Does a saved report change after a refresh?

No. A finalized report retains the calculation and inputs you reviewed. Changes to Clio records or the working draft apply to later reports.

Does this website collect my firm’s data?

This product page has no signup form, file uploads, payment collection, or Clio connection. No analytics scripts are added by FeeLedger. The hosting provider may process ordinary connection information to deliver the page. A full application privacy notice and terms will accompany firm onboarding.
